Travis Johnson:  I started fly fishing at 10. By 12 was fly fishing only. Fly fishing grabbed me quickly. I filled and enriched my soul. Getting my hands on any and every book. Fishing every mud puddle and ditch I could. My first interaction with Spey casting was at 19. An English man who politely asked to fish behind me was the first person I saw making good loops. I ate my sandwich and watched him after finishing the run. He offered to let me make a few casts. The seed and been planted. From that moment on it was cultivated by other in our area, Josh Linn, George Cook, Simon and others.
I first found Spey casting as an amazing tool for chasing PNW steelhead. But the casting bug bit me hard. Again trying to learn and practice, read anything I could. Finally taking the big step into distance casting in 2009. And was raising the world championship trophy in 2012. Adding 3 more world titles and teaching thousands of people to spey cast a year.
I am still humbled and filled with gratitude everyday because of Spey casting. I also plan to push it further and teach and educate as many as I can about the joys of Spey casting.

Landon Mayer:  Landon Mayer is owner an operator of Landon Mayer Fly Fishing. He shares these tips and secrets in his books The Hunt for Giant Trout: 25 Top Locations in the US to Catch a Trophy (new for 2019), Trout Tips: A Guide’s Secrets, Tactics and Techniques, Colorado’s Best Fly Fishing, Sight Fishing for Trout, and How to Catch the Biggest Trout of Your Life, in addition to his new film with Headwater Media: Mastering the Short Game.
Landon’s passion for fly-fishing has allowed him to make several noteworthy contributions to the sport on and off the water. This has included travels to fly-fishing related organizations of the Mid-Atlantic, West, Pacific Northwest, Southwest, and Southern states, as well Landon will be sharing his teaching through fly-fishing classes, presentations, and demonstrations of his unique techniques at this year’s Marlborough, Denver, California, New Jersey, and Atlanta Fly Fishing Shows

Maxine McCormick:  Maxine McCormick currently lives in Seattle and attends the University of Washington. She has been fly fishing for as long as she can remember thanks to her dad. By chance, she was introduced to competitive fly casting at the age of nine and since then she has attended three World Fly Casting Championships winning seven gold medals in both accuracy and distance events. At the 2022 World Championships in Norway she took home four gold medals while winning all of the single handed fly casting events. Her perfect accuracy result was the highest score ever recorded at the WC’s (male or female), and she set a single hand fly distance record in the Women’s Sea Trout event. Maxine believes that the skills she developed while tournament casting has resulted in more confidence, success and fun on the water while fishing. She looks forward to sharing her efficient casting stroke with you and hopes it will improve your casting and fishing too. What Maxine loves most about casting and fly fishing is that there is always more to learn and how good you are is a direct product of how much practice you put in.

Dave McCoy:  My father introduced me to fishing as well as experiencing and enjoying life in the outdoors. Growing up in the Eugene, Oregon area, my stomping grounds were of legendary namesake; Crane Prairie and Hosmer Lakes, the Deschutes, McKenzie and North Umpqua Rivers to name a few. I quickly discovered the thrill of having a fish on but was always in awe of my surroundings in particular the water. Being raised in the outdoors and that early exposure to water in all forms led away from fly fishing for a number of years to pursue a career as a ski race coach but was always looking over my shoulder at what fly fishing brought to my life. I eventually returned and have now been in the fly fishing industry in one form or another professionally for 27 years. I am relentless in endeavors to surpass expectations and I would be without inspiration in these pursuits without my family who constantly remind me why I need to work hard to protect what we currently enjoy.
